The Old Guard was really fun to watch

Charlize Theron has my heart

From director Gina Prince-Bythewood, The Old Guard is a fun action flick that’s easy to watch. The direction to the actors is really what makes this Netflix movie shine. Though Netflix has a somewhat varied past in regards to feature films, this movie is a diamond in the rough. As movie theaters are closed around the country, The Old Guard is a return to classic action that draws audiences.

I have somewhat of a weak spot for Charlize Theron and anything she is in. The Old Guard is no exception. Ever since Aeon Flux, Charlize Theron remains the apple of every action nerd’s eyes. She adds a seriousness and weight to any universe she inhabits.

Good direction should not be forgotten of course. Prince-Bythewood does the actors justice in her set up of this cast. The characters of The Old Guard are uniform and carry the movie’s message well.

Fun is at the top of the list when it comes to action. Dreading the next scene is something that should be foreign for every action fan. Suspense is another thing. I want to be sitting on the edge of my seat, not crouching under it. I always have fun…
